Glamping in The Grand Canyon
Where To Stay
We wanted to visit the Grand Canyon so we felt staying in Williams was fitting, a great location between The Grand Canyon and Sedona. Glamping has ALWAYS been a bucket-list item for me, so when I found Glamping Hub’s accommodations in Williams, I just knew it was the perfect fit. I was beyond excited for the endless unique accommodations but after quite a bit of scrolling, we found THE Airstream!
Glamping Hub Airstream
Our Airstream was decorated so well, such a boho vibe! It had all needed dishes and utensils, there were plenty of blankets and towels for us and best of all, GAMES! We had so much fun at night cooking up late night bites and playing some Trouble or Sorry!
At night it was so beautiful to be able to see all the stars above us! I couldn’t believe how full the sky was. The Airstream also has little lights around hanging outside, a fire pit, and a table with chairs. It’s perfect for those cozy nights. It was a bit too cold for us to stay out too late but nice to enjoy.
One thing to note, if you are planning to visit, I would pay attention to the temperature! Williams gets quite cold in the winter and we were fine with the heater in the Airstream however, some places have bathrooms outside or if it was colder it would have been hard. I would love to visit again when warmer and stay in their A-Frame, it’s gorgeous! ADD KYLE HERE!!!!!
Our cozy airstream was such an experience but they also have A-frames, yurts, tents and more!
The Grand Canyon
We woke up, got ready and headed to see The Grand Canyon. We got lucky and it was a gorgeous day! We aren’t pro hikers and had a bit of a late start to our day but we still got quite the hike in. We hiked Angel trail to Indian Gardens, didn’t quite finish though… There are many paths and I highly recommend doing some research beforehand. I enjoy using All Trails for all hiking needs. Walking down is so nice and easy going, it’s very easy to keep walking and not remember that you have to go back up so be cautious of that! Down is optional, up is mandatory, HA! About 3 miles down we turned around and realized we were not ready to hike up. We stopped at a nearby bench with a pretty view, ate our breakfast (highly recommend packing snacks and LOTS OF WATER), then we started the haul up.
Biggest tip with this is take it at your own pace. Nothing wrong with going slow and steady and taking breaks when needed.
El Trovar
We did stop at the El Trovar for dinner which is located right on site of the Grand Canyon so we could watch the sunset. It is a nice place but everyone is in hiking clothes and more causal which is a relief coming from a long day. There’s not a ton of window seating but still can see from most spots. They had delicious cheddar bread balls and we shared the crab filled trout dish, it was all great.
The Drive To Williams
When driving from Sedona you will pass through Flagstaff which is a small town with some fun restaurants and bars. We stopped at a grocery store to get some goods for glamping and were on our way but it looks like a nice place to stop.
The Road Trip Back
When leaving Williams to head to Scottsdale we decided to make a few pit-stops and we had the best time. We started by actually visiting downtown Williams which was way cooler than we expected. Everything has a very old timely vibe. A lot of diners, little shops, and coca-cola memorabilia EVERYWHERE. They even have a zip line and some old trains to explore. It also is the last spot on Route 66, so that was super big as well. We got a few nik naks for family and headed out. Not sure how we managed to not get any photos, whoops!
Williams to Prescott
Next we headed to Prescott! We had been hearing randomly throughout our trip about this old bar called The Palace. It’s right on their whiskey Row and is one of the top 10 historic bars in the country! It opened back in 1877 and story is that there was a huge fire in town that burned A LOT, however the town folk ran into the bar to pick up and bring the bar outside. They all sat around and drank on it as the fires went out and it’s still the original bar that’s back inside. We decided to stop for a bite and a drink. We each had wonderful drinks, an older fashioned for Keaton and a tropical drink for me which had me feeling like I was on an island, not fitting but SO DELICIOUS. We also shared a Buffalo burger which was SO GOOD, our server was lovely as well. Overall highly recommend checking it out and making it a stop on the way through. The town also has other great bars and restaurants, lots of live music and cute shops.
Prescott to Jerome
On to the next stop, Jerome! Jerome is a “haunted” mining town that’s built into a mountain. We went out of the way to stop there after Prescott before ending in Scottsdale. On the way there we pulled over to take some photos of the STUNNING sunset, the drive is quite windy but the views are like no other. Unfortunately by the time we actually got into the town most had closed. We still walked around and saw they had many cute shops and dining choices. There was a place open called Grapes and we stopped by to warm up and get some hot coco! The food looked amazing but the spiked coco was enough for us! We had one (Well I had 1.5 and Keaton had half of one because he was driving, made my drive more fun too!) I would say if time allows, definitely worth stopping by!
All in all, these little towns have so much character and seeing the Grand Canyon is something everyone must do. While visiting, may as well make the most of it and stay with Glamping Hub and visit these little towns while on the way in or out. I’d love to hear if you do!
